The Mermaid Fling
Every year on the first Sunday in July one of the member clubs (in rotation) organizes and hosts a bowling competition called the 'Fling' for the remaining League clubs.
The format of the days event is left to the host club to decide.
Normally, it is made up of two mixed triples teams being supplied from each league member club, who then play against drawn teams from other clubs in two or three rounds of matches.
The hosts, provides all the players with a meal & refreshments on the day.
However, to cover the cost of organizing the days event, also to raise additional funds for the host club, they run side shows, raffles, cake sales etc. It usually turns out to be a great day for everyone! (Especially when the weather is kind to us.)
