2017 Mermaid Fling hosted by Staplecross Bowls Club.

The 2017 Mermaid Fling has taken place at Staplecross B.C who were this years hosts.

Staplecross gave us a challenge, by requesting every player within the teams to play in a different position of either

Lead, No2 or Skip over the 3 rounds of matches.  It was left up to the teams to choose in which order they wanted to play their players (but never allowing them to play in the same postition more than once).

When the first round of matches had been completed, we all stopped for the traditional SPIDER fun game?? Congratulations to Sonny from Iden, who, with his skill & talent was able to get his wood nearest to the jack. For this, he was presented with a nice bottle of whisky. ( I wonder if he could have done that again?) Mmm.!

After, all the excitement of playing the spider, we were presented with a wonderful lunch, which was kindly provided to all the visiting teams by our hosts. Our sincere thanks goes to the members of Staplecross who kindly prepared this for us. Also, for the food & refreshments they had provided to us throughout the day.

We resumed play after lunch in the warmth of the sunshine that had been with us all day. Once the two afternoon rounds had been completed, we were then treated to afternoon tea & cake prior to the presentation of the Cup and trophies.

The winners of 2017 Mermaid Fling were from Tenterden B.C. (Team A) Congratulations to Ray, Ann & Malcolm.

Runners-up were Peasmarsh Team B & Northiam on 23pts each
